As usual, I didn't really follow the instructions, but I did follow my ideas...

The world we live in today, is not like the world of my youth.  In some ways the world has gotten much better. There is no hunger or homelessness and no crime. Life expectancy for an average person is now well past 150 and there are wonderful retirement communities in which we all aspire to live in one day.

But this new world, with its new wonders and good health has come at a cost.

Interaction between people is primarily through the use of technology. Computer screens link us together no matter where we are. Schools are taught remotely through hand-held devises and most work is done through telecommuting. 

For the jobs that do require hands on, there are protective garments, sterile work stations and strict decontamination laws enforced in every facility.

In essence, people never get dirty, never go for a walk outside, never meet or even touch. Contact is even limited within the family structure.  A mother, for instance, will still hold her child, and indeed, a man and a woman will still get busy together to make that child, but each of these contacts is followed up with a very thorough cleansing ritual.

I suppose some things must be given up to achieve others.

I still missed the adventures I had growing up, and that’s why I’ve invented...
